MICROSCOPIC PRECISION | POCKET WATCH RESTORATION
A mechanical pocket watch is a high-precision engine designed to run 24 hours a day.
However, the organic oils used in the last century have turned into abrasive sludge.
At The Winding Workshop, we do not perform "dunk and swish" cleaning. We practice complete
horological conservation. Every movement is stripped to the plate, inspected under 30x magnification,
and reassembled using modern Swiss synthetic lubricants.
Every gear, pivot, and jewel is examined under a stereoscope to identify bent teeth or scarred pivots invisible to the naked eye.
Total disassembly followed by an ultrasonic bath in ammoniated solutions to remove decades of "gummy" organic oils and debris.
If a balance staff is broken and a replacement cannot be found, we turn new components on the lathe from drill stock blanks.
Reassembly with Moebius synthetic lubricants followed by multi-position timing to ensure zero-error escapement performance.
Andy founded The Winding Workshop in 2005. He applies engineering prowess, military discipline and precision to every restoration project. Whether it's a 100-year-old fan motor or a railroad-grade Hamilton, Andy treats every machine with the respect its history deserves.
Don't let a dry movement destroy a family treasure.
